What's DME?

Dimethyl Ether, also known as methoxymethane, methyl ether, wood ether, and DME, is a colorless gaseous ether with an ether odor.

DME is water soluble. It has the chemical formula CH3OCH3.

DME is the energy solution for the next century

DME can replace freon as a refrigerant.

DME is used as the propellant in hair spray, spray-paint, and almost any other spray can applications. It's safer to breathe than other propellants and environmentally friendly.

DME is also a clean-burning alternative to liquified petroleum gas, liquified natural gas, diesel fuel and gasoline.

DME can be made from natural gas, coal, or biomass.

The conversion of syn-gas to DME is a catalytic process achieved by utilizing a co-catalyst system developed and licensed to GreenStart by the University of Utah.

DME can then be catalytically converted into 49% sulfur free synthetic jet fuel, 40% sulfur free liquid synthetic diesel fuel and 11% 92 octane synthetic gasoline.
